Mary Baker Eddy
1821 - 1910

Mary Baker EddyShe was one of the most influential women in American history, establishing the Church of Christian Science, a new religion recognizing men and women as spiritual equals. She established a theological college, and began addressing concepts of mind/body integration generations before its acceptance. Her spiritual writings continue to be popular, and her Church's newspaper remains a national and international source of objective journalism.

Time magazine named her the most influential woman of the 19th century, and Susan B. Anthony observed in her time, "And what of Mrs. Eddy? No man ever obtained so large a following in so short a time."
